Sooner or later I get asked the question "What did you shoot that with?". Here's the answer.

I'm partial to Nikon equipment. More out of habit than for any other reason. The body is a D200. The lenses are Nikkors, not zooms but primes.

I've never cared for the weight of zooms and my legs still work.

Part of shooting is the ability to look into the future and be there. A prime lens helps experience this.

I carry a 24 f2.8, 50 f 1.8 and 105 f2.8. The 50 is always on. It's what I carry about 75% of the time.

Extras are a 180 f2.8 and an exception to the zoom rule a 50-300 f4.5 Nikkor. A true beast of a lens but excellent to take on the road with a tripod.

As you can see I consider 2.8 to be an ideal "fast" lens. This is because other than the pop-up on the 200 I don't own lights....just don't shoot that way. Use to, but not any more.

The thing to remember is that this is what works for me.

You are different.

And it's the image that counts.
